How to feel more confident about your wardrobe choices.
It's time to let go of your style inhibitions.
Even with closets bursting at the seams with options – countless dresses, pants galore, and a surplus of blouses – we often find ourselves reaching for the same old favourites.
Remember those metallic gold pants you snagged on a whim? Chances are they're still hanging untouched.
It's a common pattern: we stick to the tried-and-true 10 per cent, leaving a vast majority of our wardrobe neglected. So how do we ensure we’re using the remaining 90 per cent?
On this week’s episode of Nothing To Wear, Leigh Campbell is joined by fashion expert Victoria Latu to give us a masterclass on how to shed our style inhibitions.

“I have never had any inhibitions around how I dress and I believe that stems from my background. I am half Russian, and half Nigerian, and appearance has been the one thing about me that has stood out like a sore thumb,” Victoria said.
“I was born in what is essentially Ukraine, but back then it was USSR, and I was the only black kid in the town. I experienced the same thing when I moved to Nigeria. I stood out because I wasn’t “black enough”. Because of that, I’ve always grown up with people looking at me for different reasons and that built confidence in me.”
So, let’s get in to her top tips:
Push yourself outside your comfort zone.
“Most people don’t know where to start. They think they’re doing the wrong thing. However, the way to get confident at something is to do that thing more, and if you do need some help, then you can go in-store and get a stylist at David Jones for example. In my experience, people are insecure about where to start and they don’t know what looks good on them.”
Figure out your personal style.
“Defining your style in three words and questioning, ‘what do I want to represent’ helps form your style. Some people want to look polished, rich and strong, so if that’s you then use that as your compass when shopping.”
Make things work for your body.
“I think you can wear anything as long as you get the proportions right. It’s all about balance, if something looks off it’s because it’s off balance. Either it’s too tight, too short, too long etc. Once you tweak it a little here and there for your body then it will look more flattering on you.”
Let your style evolve with you.
“Everyone is looking for their personal style, and once they find it, they want to bottle it up and keep it forever. But the thing is, as women, we evolve and grow so much throughout our lives. So, your style has to grow, evolve and develop with you. Assess where you are in your life and re-evaluate.”
